Sigma Ingegneria was founded in 2004, following an experience of its two founding partners - begun in the late 1990s - in the international high-energy physics project for the mechanical design and construction of the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment, the particle detector of the Large Hadron Collider at C.E.R.N. in Geneva.
The opportunity to live within an international scientific community, in contact with interdisciplinary personalities and skills, led to the growth of a family-like environment, in which everyone can best express their abilities and stimulate continuous improvement.
Since then Sigma has steadily collaborated on projects of high scientific and technological value with scientific research bodies such as the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR), the Universities of Pisa and Florence, the Scuola IMT Alti Studi di Lucca and the Consorzio Nazionale Interuniversitario di Telecomunicazioni (CNIT), building up its expertise in “innovation” and “industry 4.0.”
Research and Development have always been the cornerstones of a close-knit multidisciplinary team, made up of aerospace, robotics and civil engineers, designers, and IT technicians who coordinate the electrical and mechanical production department.
Today Sigma Ingegneria’s core business consists of building prototype machines for industry (sustainable and certified) and the subsequent production of small and medium series.
Over the years, in addition to building prototypes, the company has diversified its production into two distinct markets, giving rise to three product brands: Drowings®, born in the field of autonomous robotic systems including rotary-wing drones, AGVs and rail surveillance systems; Falmach®, a made-in-Italy machinery production line entirely dedicated to the footwear sector; and Marmoreal®, an integrated ecosystem for generating virtual catalogs of marble blocks, made possible by image acquisition and 3D model processing.
