The Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna is a public university institute with special status, operating in the field of applied sciences: Economic and Management Sciences, Legal Sciences, Political Science, Agricultural Sciences and Plant Biotechnology, Medical Sciences and Industrial and Information Engineering. As regards its activities within ARTES 4.0, as coordinator of a macro-node the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna combines fundamental cross-cutting expertise. In its role as a “Macro-node” of ARTES 4.0, two main domains are active: engineering, with particular reference to ICT, robotics and Industry 4.0 technologies, and economics and management, with particular reference to Open Innovation and R&D Management, the Economics of Innovation and industrial dynamics. The “Macro-node” carries out guidance activities towards Italian companies, to identify, on the one hand, technological innovation needs, and to provide support for innovation management and technical matching, including through organizing awareness events on key economic and innovation policy topics. It also organizes specific training initiatives, such as second-level master’s programs, doctoral courses and specific professional training courses, which will also make use of demonstrative technology lines. To stimulate innovation projects, the “Macro-node” in particular builds demonstration lines for feasibility analysis of innovative case studies and the carrying out of pilot studies in the field of Industry 4.0 enabling technologies.
