The Università degli Studi di Palermo is a public university with a long tradition (founded in 1806) and represents an important point of reference for education and research in Southern Italy and the Mediterranean. It hosts approximately 48,000 students and is organized into various departments and campuses, including in Agrigento, Caltanissetta and Trapani. The University is active in research and innovation and has advanced infrastructure, including laboratories, museums, a botanical garden, a university hospital and a library network. It collaborates with universities, institutions and companies and takes part in national and international projects. It promotes sustainability, innovation, technology transfer and third-mission initiatives for the development of the territory. In its role as a “Macro-node” of ARTES 4.0, the Università degli Studi di Palermo has as its main objective strengthening technological innovation and the transfer of research towards companies, in line with digital and sustainable transformation strategies. Membership fosters collaborations with companies and research centers, enhancing skills in areas such as robotics, artificial intelligence, automation and digitalization.
